The Property:
A Medieval beamed cottage with yellow sandstone walls (internal and external), beautifully renovated and centrally heated. Located on the corner of Rue Leopard and Rue Porte de la Combe, in a quiet street within the walls of this historic Bastide. The owners have equipped this cottage to the highest standards for their own seasonal use
Accommodation comprises the following:
Lounge/dining room: Large open room, dominated by magnificent stone fireplace, whose chimney piece soars to the rafters, past the gallery of the master bedroom. Fireplace bears markings of Knights Templar. Peter Guild settee and foot stools, 3 armchairs. Dining table and six chairs. Dresser, vitrine, bookcase with selection of books, TV and video cabinet (satellite TV), desk and coffee tables
Kitchen: Modern kitchen with fitted units. Ceramic hob, eye-level oven. micro-wave, food processor, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Laundry area downstairs with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities
Master bedroom: Above L/D room, with gallery at one end revealing the massive chimney piece. Ample headroom and spacious feel due to steep pitch of the roof. Large double bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, chests of drawers, chair and escritoire. En suite facility with shower, toilet, heated towel rail, washbasin in vanity unit. Ceiling fan above bedroom/gallery. Staircase to L/D room
Second bedroom: Below L/D room, connecting by staircase. Also has outside door, leading to lane behind the cottage. Two single beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers, chairs and bureau and bookcase. En suite facility with shower, toilet, bidet, heated towel rail and washbasin
Situated on a high promontory which dominates the magnificent valley of the River Dordogne, the Royal Bastide of Domme was founded in the 13th CenturyThe main entrance to the walled town, the Porte des Tours, was used at the beginning of the 14th century as a prison for some of the Knights Templar, who in their captivity cut strange graffiti on the stone of their cells – an example of which is on the cottage chimney piece. The beauty of Domme lies not only in its location but in the yellow sandstone from which its buildings are constructed, as well as the colourful flowers and vines on their balconies and staircases

The grounds:
Terrace: With flower boxes runs along the front of cottage, bordering on Rue Porte de la Combe. Equipped with stone bench. Portable table and chairs and umbrella available for al fresco meals, aperitifs or just watching the passing pedestrians. This cottage does not have a garden
Parking: In front of cottage or along the street or in the Place de la Rode

Baker, grocer, wine shops, specialists in local delicacies – all in Domme. Supermarket and full range of shops in Cenac, village at foot of Domme hill (2km)
There are several restaurants and café’s within walking distance of the cottage as well as many others in the neighbourhood
Markets:
Market day (in the mornings) in Domme is Thursday, Sarlat Saturday and Wednesday- choice of markets in neighbouring villages/towns seven days a week

Canoeing: Canoes and Kayaks are available for hire at Vitrac and Cenac. Travel downstream, return transport arranged or take a voyage down the river in a passenger Gabarre at La Roque Gageac..
