Nearby:
The village of Curemonte dates back to the 11th century and has been honoured with the title of “L’un des plus beaux villages de France”. Despite its numerous attractions (3 Chateaux, 3 churches and a market hall), it remains very much a working village, with a boulangerie, post office, bar/tabac and three restaurants. There is also a local farmers market once a week in the summer months.
Beaulieu sur Dordogne, just 10 minutes from Curemonte and, as its name suggests, situated on the Dordogne River, is a small market town with many shops, several bars and restaurants and a twice-weekly market. The Benedictine Abbey and Chapelle des Penitents are in the centre of the town, canoes can be hired at the river, as well as boat trips on the traditional “Gabares”.
