The Property:
The house is three centuries old and has been made into a very comfortable home where old and new combine to create a feeling of peace and charm. A private lake that belongs to the house, only five minutes away, allows pleasant walks or picnics in a beautiful setting (note: owner will advise clients if access permitted).
The sitting room is comfortably furnished. The dining room has beamed ceilings, a lovely stone fireplace and a sofa (not sofa bed). The kitchen is well equipped and includes a washing machine and dishwasher. 1 bedroom with 2 twins, 2 bedrooms with Queen size beds. There is a bathroom with a bath/shower and a separate shower room. The house has central heating, a telephone and a television/stereo.
The grounds:
Outside, there is a very large covered patio with a table, chairs and an outside kitchen with BBQ, and a garden with lawns, trees, flowers and fruit trees.
Nearby:
Ribérac has a very good market on Friday mornings and most towns and villages have lively markets on different days of the week. Brantôme (30km), is an island-town set between two branches of the River Dronne. With its five bridges and ancient abbey under the cliff, its huge belfry reflected in the river, the old Virginia creeper-covered houses, the weeping willows and a public garden by the river, it has great charm. The Lot et Garonne and Dordogne areas are still relatively undiscovered tourist destinations and have a lot to offer as far as scenery, typical villages and castles, prehistoric caves, gastronomy, kindness of people and prices tend to be lower than the French Riviera. This is an ideal base for half day, one day or two-day trips to the Lot-et Garonne Valleys, the vineyards of Bordeaux, the beaches of the Atlantic coast, and the Armagnac region of the Gers, which reaches down to the foothills of the Pyrenees.
